More than 100 immigrants, reportedly in the United States illegally, were detained in Colorado Springs following an overnight raid at an underground nightclub located in a strip mall.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Rocky Mountain Division led the multi-agency operation early Sunday morning, resulting in the arrest of 114 undocumented immigrants from a venue that held over 200 people.
According to the DEA, authorities discovered drugs — including pink cocaine — along with evidence of prostitution and multiple firearms during the operation.
“What was happening inside was significant drug trafficking, prostitution, and violent crimes,” said Jonathan C. Pullen, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Rocky Mountain Division, during a news conference on Sunday. “We seized a number of guns inside.”
President Donald Trump commented on the raid in a social media post, stating: “A big raid last night on some of the worst people illegally in our country — drug dealers, murderers, and other violent criminals, of all shapes and sizes, and judges don’t want to send them back to where they came from. If we don’t win this battle at the Supreme Court, our country, as we know it, is finished! It will be a crime-ridden mess. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The operation involved multiple agencies, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, and the Colorado Springs Police Department.
