Nigerian Lady Dragged for Claiming to Save ₦200k Daily to Buy Benz

A Nigerian woman recently faced significant backlash on social media after claiming she saved ₦200,000 daily to purchase a Mercedes-Benz. The controversy began when she posted about her new car on her X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that her daily savings enabled her to afford the luxury vehicle. Given that saving ₦200,000 every day amounts to ₦6 million monthly, many Nigerians questioned the plausibility of her claim, leading to widespread skepticism and criticism.

This incident highlights a broader trend on social media where individuals share their financial achievements, sometimes leading to public scrutiny. For instance, a Nigerian lady named Innocentia Olisa gained attention after revealing she had saved ₦291,000 in a piggy bank over several months, aiming to buy a Toyota Venza. Despite her efforts, she acknowledged that the amount was insufficient for her goal.

Similarly, another woman was the subject of viral posts claiming she saved for two years to buy her boyfriend a car. She later clarified that these claims were false and that she had no involvement in such an act.

These instances underscore the importance of critically evaluating financial claims shared on social media, as they can sometimes be exaggerated or misleading.

Her response to those dragging her: She wrote

Since I posted a picture of the car I bought, I have not rested from inferior men. I saved 200k daily to be able to afford that 🤣. But some people think a man just closed eye and bought it for me.

I pray y’all heal 🩷. I WILL DRINK YOUR TEARS!
