The thoughtless increase in fuel price especially at this time is a huge recipe for crisis - PDP tells FG

''The thoughtless increase in fuel price especially at this time is a huge recipe for crisis'' - PDP tells FG

On September 3, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) raised the price of fuel from N617 to N897 per litre, a move that has been met with widespread criticism from citizens. The PDP's National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, released a statement denouncing the price hike, blaming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's government for plunging over 150 million Nigerians into poverty.

The PDP emphasizes that businesses are collapsing daily due to the overall economic downturn, with the Naira exchange rate at an all-time low of over N1,600 to a US Dollar. The current inflation rate of 34% and unemployment rate of 40% are also expected to worsen with the recent surge in fuel prices.

The PDP strongly opposes this hike, stating that it will only worsen the already dire situation for Nigerians. The party accuses the APC administration of being corrupt and disregarding the well-being of the people, pushing them to their breaking point. The PDP urges the government to reconsider this increase and prioritize the needs of its citizens over its own interests.
