Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi revealed that the club was close to signing Victor Osimhen before the deal fell through in the final hours of the summer transfer window. Despite reports, Mikel dismissed wage demands as the reason for the failed transfer, explaining that paperwork, medicals, and timing were the main issues.
Both sides had reached a compromise, and Osimhen was “disappointed” when the move collapsed. Mikel remains optimistic about a future transfer, stating that both Chelsea and Osimhen are still interested in a potential deal. Osimhen has since joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan.
