in recent news from NaijaNewsTrend, it has been reported that suspected Boko Haram insurgents have carried out a new assault in Yobe State. This incident occurred in Buni Yadi town, the main city of Gujba Local Government area, just days following a ruthless attack on the Mafa ward in Tarmuwa LGA, where 34 individuals lost their lives. The Daily Trust reported that the latest attack took place at a vigilante camp in Sabon Fegi, near the government lodge and local government secretariat.
A reliable source from the town disclosed that the insurgents arrived on foot last night, setting fire to several parts of the government lodge and burning down two vehicles belonging to a local bread factory called Annour Bread. The source added that the vigilante members and special forces were quick to engage the terrorists, forcing them to flee. However, the vigilante camp, two vehicles of the bread factory, and some parts of the lodge were burnt down.
Another source from the security agency revealed that one of the vigilantes working at the targeted camp sustained injuries during the attack. Prior to the insurgents' arrival, security operatives had already cleared the streets after receiving information about the impending infiltration. It is believed that the insurgents have a hideout nearby the town.
The State Police Command's spokesperson, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident and stated that the terrorists came in large numbers on foot. He added that the insurgents initiated the attack by shooting indiscriminately. Supporting this, Captain Shehu Muhammad, Assistant Director of the Public Relations Unit of Operation Lafiya Dole Sector 2 Damaturu, also confirmed the assault and announced that the troops had successfully thwarted the attack.
