Ajuri Ngelale resigns from Tinubu's government

 

Presidential spokesperson Ngelale takes indefinite leave of absence.

Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity and the Official Spokesperson, has made an important announcement. Due to pressing medical issues within his immediate family, he will be taking an indefinite leave of absence. This decision was revealed through a statement posted on his general communication WhatsApp platform on Saturday, September 7. Ngelale also mentioned that he submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff on Friday, September 6, informing them of his decision. This means that he will not be fulfilling his duties not only as the Special Adviser to the President, but also as the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.

Ngelale explained that this decision was made after consulting with his family, as they are currently dealing with a serious medical situation. He expressed his hope to return to serving his country once the circumstances allow. In the meantime, he has requested privacy for his family during this challenging time. His leave of absence has already begun and there is no specified date for his return.

In his statement, Ngelale stated, "On Friday, I submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President informing my office that I am proceeding on an indefinite leave of absence to prioritize the medical matters currently affecting my immediate family. While I understand the urgency of my duties, this difficult decision was made after careful discussions with my family over the past few days as the medical situation at home has become more serious. I look forward to resuming my full-time national service once the time, healing, and circumstances permit. I kindly ask for privacy for myself and my family during this challenging time."
